Gunung Rajah Hike

Gunung Rajah Climb

Gunung Rajah is a popular mountain among hikers in Malaysia, with two trailheads to choose from. One from Pahang and another from KKB, Selangor. The trail that starts from KKB is a common starting point for hikers from Selangor. The trail starts from Kg. Pertak, car park area and the first point of interest along the trail is Camp BMW, where hikers can take a rest and refill their water supplies. Most hikers choose to spend the night at BMW before starting their climb the next day.

As you continue your climb, you will pass by Camp Botol, which is another popular spot for hikers to rest and take a break. The trail then leads you to Camp Renoma and Camp R&R, which is the last checkpoint or camp before you reach the summit. After R&R, hikers will pass Peak Junction and False Peak before finally reaching the Mount Rajah summit. The view from the summit is breathtaking, with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. A permit and MGP Guide (refer to Selangor - GEC MGP) is required to hike Gunung Rajah. The guide is compulsory and they can provide valuable information about the trail, point of interest and also to ensure the safety of the hikers.

The journey is demanding and it takes between 12-18 hours to complete the journey and return safely back to car park. It's a true test of endurance, strength and some cardio. The route is especially challenging, featuring long stretches of steep ascents and descents along a “dragon’s back” trail of 25km. during bad weather season, expect worse situation, with muddy, slippery terrain with thorny plants and fallen trees that require extra caution.

The final push to the summit is the hardest but the peak rewards hikers with a panoramic view and an achievement feeling.
